About Dr. Jennifer Smist

Dr. Jennifer Smist is a Teaching Assistant Professor and the Coordinator of the Minor in Leadership Studies at the University of Illinois. Her passion for leadership education and personal and interpersonal development shines through in her teaching. With a Ph.D. in Education Organization and Leadership, Dr. Smist is well-equipped to guide students in their journey to address complex challenges and unlock their leadership potential.

In addition to her teaching role, Dr. Smist coordinates ALEC 393, where students earn academic credit for internships in agricultural leadership, education, and communications. She also helps with undergraduate recruitment, guiding prospective students as they explore the ALEC program.

Dr. Smist has contributed to various publications and is an active member of the academic community. Her commitment to leadership education is evident in her teaching and in the impact she has on her students.
