About Dr. Jennifer Smist:

Dr. Jennifer Smist is a Teaching Assistant Professor and the Coordinator of the Minor in Leadership Studies at the University of Illinois. Her passion for leadership education and personal and interpersonal development shines through in her teaching. With a Ph.D. in Education Organization and Leadership, Dr. Smist is well-equipped to guide students in their journey to address complex challenges and unlock their leadership potential.

In addition to her teaching role, Dr. Smist is involved in coordinating the ALEC 393 course, where students earn academic credit for internships in agricultural leadership, education, and communications. Her dedication extends to undergraduate recruitment coordination, helping prospective students explore the ALEC program.

Dr. Smist has contributed to various publications and is an active member of the academic community. Her commitment to leadership education and development is evident through her work and the positive impact she has on her students.
